Why it works for clubs

Warm-up questions
- 1 Settle in with a warm mug: was this a book you raced through in one cozy sitting, or one you had to put down and breathe before picking back up?
- 2 Coming back to Wren and Leroux, did it feel like reuniting with old friends? What small moment made you smile or feel at home with them again?
Digging in
- 1 Wren spends her days close to hard, unsettling things. What did you notice about how she finds comfort or steadiness, and where do you look for that same steadiness in your own life?
- 2 The partnership between Wren and Leroux carries a lot of weight. What about the way they lean on each other moved you, and who is the person you would want beside you in a hard stretch?
- 3 This story sits with fear for missing girls and the families waiting on them. Was there a scene that quietly stayed with you afterward, and what tenderness did the author let through the tension?
- 4 Two cities, two sets of worried people. Did the sense of place feel warm, lonely, or something in between to you, and did it remind you of anywhere you have lived or loved?
Going deep
- 1 Without giving anything away, how did the closing stretch leave you feeling, comforted, shaken, hopeful, and did you want to sit with the characters a little longer or hug the book closed?
- 2 Thinking about the whole journey Wren goes on here, what did the book gently say to you about carrying heavy things and still choosing to keep caring? Share a personal connection if you feel like it.
