Reading level: Easy

Best for: Clubs who love a full table, cozy socks, and conversation that wanders from recipes to memories

Discussion

Warm-up

  1. 1.Which recipe did your eyes (or your stomach) land on first while flipping through, and what made you want more of it?
  2. 2.What did you cook or bake from the book for tonight, and how did your kitchen smell while it was happening?

Digging in

  1. 1.The title is basically what we say when something tastes like comfort. What food makes you instantly say 'more, please,' and who first made it for you?
  2. 2.Did cooking from this book feel like a treat, a chore, or a small act of self-care? What put you in that mood?
  3. 3.Which dish would you make for a friend having a hard week, and why that one?
  4. 4.Many of these recipes offer a lighter or 'healthy-ish' spin on classic cravings. Does that make comfort food feel more doable for you, or do some favorites need to stay just as they are?

Going deep

  1. 1.Think of a meal that stayed with you long after the plates were cleared. What made it memorable: the food, the people, or the moment in your life? Did anything in this book bring that feeling back?
  2. 2.A cookbook invites us into someone's kitchen and routines. Having spent time with this one, what small ritual or habit around food would you like to carry into your own home?

On the table & to sip

To eat

Cook-From-the-Book Potluck
Each guest brings one recipe they made from More, Please!, so the table becomes a live tasting of the book and every dish comes with its own story.
Bubbling Baked Pasta or Cozy One-Pan Bake
A warm, shareable centerpiece that matches the book's crave-worthy comfort-food spirit and keeps the host's effort low.
Warm Skillet Chocolate Chip Cookie with a Scoop of Ice Cream
A slightly indulgent, spoon-it-straight-from-the-pan dessert that's pure 'more, please.' Pass the spoons and let everyone dig in.

To sip

Spiced Hot Apple Cider with Cinnamon Sticks (no alcohol)
A simmering pot makes the whole house smell like a hug, and it's a nurturing alcohol-free option everyone can enjoy.
Honey Vanilla Chai Lattes (no alcohol)
Warm, gently sweet, and easy to make in a batch, perfect for sipping between bites and stories.
Spiked Hot Chocolate with a Splash of Bourbon or Peppermint Schnapps
A mug of rich cocoa with a little something extra, for guests who want dessert in a cup.

Close with the two deeper questions, fill out scorecards, and swap leftovers or recipe cards on the way out.

Host tips

  • Assign or sign up for recipes a week ahead so the potluck covers savory, sweet, and something to sip without five of the same dish.
  • Keep a stack of containers by the door so guests can take home leftovers, which is the coziest party favor there is.
  • Don't push a guest who hasn't cooked yet. Let them bring store-bought treats and pick a recipe to try at home.
